Podcast Tuesday has come around again, and in this conversation, I’m talking with fitness expert, Sam Palmer, about how to stay strong over 50.
I’ve known former nurse, Sam on a professional level for several years now as we’ve explored how to stay fit after 50 together with our various groups.
On a personal level, I belong to her online fitness membership which offers daily online fitness classes without leaving home. Perfect.
In this conversation we discuss common misconceptions about fitness, the need for a supportive environment, and the significance of muscle-building as we age.
Sam emphasises the importance of incorporating various types of exercise and introduces her “Feel Great in 8” program designed for beginners.

Do you have a plan for protecting your bones and muscles once those hormones have gone? Personally, it’s taken me a while to fit all those jigsaw puzzle pieces together. It’s all too easy to look outside at the grey skies and decide not to take the walk that I know will do me good, to eat the cake instead of the apple, or watch “just one more” episode of The Traitors instead of going to bed!
I console myself by seeing that, not as failure, but proof that I’m human. Eat the cake. Take the walk. Roll out the yoga mat. Another day I might take a strength class, run around afer the grandkids at the park, have a glass of wine. Feels like a good balance to me. How about you?
